South Kilworth C of E Primary School is at the heart of a village community. It has a strong Christian ethos and links with both its local church and community.  Our Christian values of Thankfulness, Trust, Reverence, Hope, Endurance, Community and Service underpin everything we do.

Children normally start school in the year in which they turn five but mid-year applications from children moving to the area or from other schools will also be welcomed if we have space available to accommodate them.

Children are admitted to school in the September following their fourth birthday as part of the Foundation Stage of their education. A programme of induction is planned for Foundation Stage children and parents prior to starting school. This includes home visits, familiarisation visits and a Parents’ Evening. Places will be offered initially to children living in the school’s catchment area, South Kilworth. Priority will be given to children with siblings already at the school. After that, places will be made available to children living outside the catchment area. Parents have the right to appeal if their child is refused a place.

Children of statutory school age can be admitted at any time throughout the school year in accordance with the school’s admission arrangements.

All applications need to be made to Leicestershire Local Authority. Application forms and further details are available from the school or the Leicestershire admissions website.

In accordance with LA guidelines children moving out of the catchment area after starting school will still be able to keep their place.

Mid-Term Admissions

To apply for a midterm transfer you will need to apply via the school's Local Authority.  Please go directly to the application form using this link https://www.leicestershire.gov.uk/education-and-children/schools-colleges-and-academies/school-admissions/apply-to-move-school.  Please contact the school office to help you with any queries. 

We participate in full with the Local Authorities co-ordinated scheme. 

The School Admissions Code states all admitting authorities must aim to have a decision to parents in 10 school days and it is mandatory the decision is with a parent in 15 school days.
