Autumn Traditions

School has been a buzz with autumn traditions

This has to be one of our favourite seasons at school. As the leaves begin to change colour and the air cools and dampens, we look to autumn and delight in the traditions it brings.

This term we have been apple pressing, producing litres of sweet and sticky juice for all to try and enjoy! Thank you to all the families for their donations of apples and pears. As an activity, it brings the children closer to knowing where their food comes from and how, even without electricity, we can produce delicious juice to share. It always makes them smile, to think that the activity they are doing was also carried out by the first classes ever to attend South Kilworth back in the 1850s - as most were children from local farms who would help out with apple picking and pressing.

We have also been celebrating Harvest. The children all attended our Harvest Service at church, giving thanks for the food we have and to the farmers who work so hard to produce what we eat. We also collected tinned and dried goods for the Lutterworth Foodbank. Thank you again to our wonderful community for all their support.
