Sports Premium
In recent years, the Government has given additional funding to schools for physical education (PE) and sport. There are clear guidelines about how this money is to be used in schools. The Government expects schools “to achieve self-sustaining improvement in the quality of PE and sport in primary schools. It is important to emphasise that the focus of spending must lead to long lasting impact against the vision (below) that will live on well beyond the Primary PE and Sport Premium funding.”
Vision for the Primary PE and Sport Premium
We aim to ensure all our pupils leave our school physically literate and with the knowledge, skills and motivation necessary to equip them for a healthy, active lifestyle and lifelong participation in physical activity and sport.
The school understands and values the importance of physical activity and sport. The children are encouraged to undertake a range of sports and activities both within the Physical Education (PE) curriculum, at playtimes and also in extra-curricular activities.
We are a member of the Lutterworth Area School Sports. As members our children take part in competitions with other schools in our area and across Leicestershire.
We hold many trophies in our school cabinet for team games. Every year our children part in the Saffron Lane Area sports competition with our champions moving through to the finals held in Rockingham Triangle in Corby.
Swimming is an important part of our school sports provision and all our children attend swimming lessons from Reception – Year 6. Junior children who are confident swimmers earn their life savers awards.
